Reading Matthew’s genealogy of Christ is an amazing way to prepare for Christmas by seeing how God prepared humanity through all of those people for Christ’s coming! We see in Genesis that Jacob tells Judah that kingship will always be with his line and Matthew proves it by showing that Christ is actually descendent from Judah. It’s amazing how God kept the promise of Judah’s kingliness and fulfilled it in Christ, our heavenly king.
We think the Psalm for today shows us how to respond to Christ the king in this season with worship and hope. “Endow the king with your justice” it asks in anticipation, “may he rule from sea to sea,” it prays in hope and, at the end of this third and joyful week of advent, we should sing this Psalm of praise with the same faith to welcome our king into our hearts. There is no better way than song and praise to celebrate God’s wonderful plan for Christ’s coming revealed in the scriptures especially going into Christmas.
So, in this final week of Advent, we want you to join us in raising our voices at Mass and opening our hearts for the coming of the king that God promised, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Love,
